The Value Stream Dashboard is a central view of your Initiatives and Milestones, and plots your Initiatives and the Features that are part of them on a timeline. As is customary in BigAgile, the tool shows you which items are on track or have issues you need to look into.

A detailed explanation of the various sections and information on the dashboard follows:

Top Level Metrics

The first metric on the Value Stream Dashboard offer insights into how many of your initiatives are on track, and how many are at risk. In our case, we have 6 in total, with 5 being labelled "on track", and 1 flagged as "at risk".

A Predictability figure is also offered, which is based on features planned vs features delivered, for the timeline currently on screen. The trend also shows how this value compares to the previous period. In our example, our predictability is 39% compared to 43% previously so we are shown a downward trend.

You can hover over the predictability metric to see the previous period's figure. - This score will vary depending on whether you have set the view to be yearly, quarterly, or monthly.

Milestone Health shows a breakdown of your Milestones and highlights how many of them are on track or at risk.

Upcoming Milestones show the four upcoming milestones. The background colour on the date indicates whether the milestone is at risk, based on the features assigned to it.

Top 4 Initiatives shows your top 4 Initiatives. Here as well, the background colour on the date shows whether an Initiative is on track or at risk, based on the Features assigned to it.

Initiatives Breakdown

The initiatives breakdown shows your Initiatives on a timeline. You can choose whether to visualize the timeline in Months/Quarters/Years.

You may find the yearly view to be more useful for Initiatives with long durations, for example.

The lines of the Initiative are colour coded to show you the status of an Initiative at a glance.

You can expand an Initiative using the arrow next to the name and get more detailed insight into the progress of features within the Initiative. Feature lines are also colour coded here.

The pink features indicate that they have not been planned in an Increment. BigAgile is using average increment velocity and backlog priority to determine where these Features would probably be delivered.

This is a similar process that the Product Roadmap uses to obtain estimated delivery times.

At any point, you can click on the Initiative or Feature Name to view more information. You can also open the Delivery view of the corresponding Programme a Feature is being delivered in.

The two arrows on either side of the timeline allow you to move back or forward in time. This might be useful for initiatives that span a longer period of time.

Hovering over the initiative bars offers you planned and expected dates. The small diamond indicates expected date, and the star indicates planned date. If the initiative has been completed early, it will display a message stating the number of days it was completed early by.

Only blue colour coded initiatives are complete.

Initiatives which have overrun their expected completion date will display a message stating exactly how many days it has overrun by.
