How do they work?

Kanban teams in BigAgile work differently than Scrum teams. While we can rely on Sprints for Scrum teams to know when things are planned to be delivered, Kanban teams do not have the concept of Sprints. This means that their plans are estimated on a weekly throughput in stories or story points.

Setting up a Kanban Team in BigAgile:

Head to Admin > Teams to create and configure a Kanban Team.

Add your team name and description (optional), and choose your connector (Jira/Azure Devops).

When the connector field is filled, you’ll be able to choose a board for your team. Remember to ensure that the board you are associating the team with, is a Kanban configuration on Jira/Azdo.

Once a Kanban board has been selected, you will be able to choose a throughput value and a throughput type.

Configuring Throughput and Throughput Type:

There are two Throughput Types; Story points and Story Count. This screenshot shows an example throughput value of 10. This means that the team in question delivers on average 10 stories or 10 story points every week..

It is important to note that the value can be set as high or as low as you need.

RAG statuses for features in a Kanban team function in the same way as scrum teams. If the features in a Kanban team aren’t estimated to be completed during the Sprint period, then they will display as red or amber.

Lastly, Kanban teams on the delivery boards are designated with a blue Kanban pill.
