Product Themes represent strategic pillars or areas of focus that collectively shape a product's direction and development. They serve as guiding principles to align your product with your overall vision and customer needs and can be comprised of multiple initiatives.

Creating a Product Theme:

Head to Value Stream > Product Themes, and click the ‘+’ Icon to create a Product Theme.

You can give your Product Theme a title and strategic theme, there are no restrictions on what these can be. Press Save & Post to save your changes.

Assigning Product Themes to Features and Initiatives:

To assign a Product Theme to an Initiative, head to Value Stream > Initiatives, and click on the initiative you’d like to assign a Product Theme to.

Once open, you will see a ‘Product Themes’ field. For each product theme you can specify a strategic theme, which is the related strategic pillar or focus area for the business as a whole to which your product theme relates.

Tip: You can assign as many Product Themes to Features and Initiatives as you’d like.

Here's an example of what the Product Themes field looks like when Product Themes have been assigned in a feature/initiative:

Filtering data by Product Themes:

You are able to filter your data by Product Theme in all of the Product Screens, as well as the Value Stream Dashboard.

The top level filters of the Product Screens is where you’ll find the Product Themes filter.

To filter by a particular Product Theme, click filter, and a dropdown box containing all of your Product Themes will appear. You will then be able to choose a single Product Theme to filter by.
