In BigAgile, Initiatives represent a set of Features sharing the same overarching goal. This quick guide will show you how to create and save an Initiative.

Creating and Saving an Initiative:

Head to Value Stream > Initiatives and press the '+' Icon next to Initiatives to create an Initiative.

Start by filling out the name and owner fields. The Target Realisation Date and Estimated Completion Date can both be filled out when creating the Initiative.

Remember, mapping dates for initiatives will determine how it is displayed on the Value Stream Dashboard timeline. (Value Stream Dashboard shown below)

The Wiki Link is for your wiki, (Confluence, SharePoint etc.) - It's a place for you to store more information about your initiatives (e.g feasibility study, business analysis artefacts, solution documents, architecture diagrams).

You are currently able to link OKRs, Milestones and Product Themes. Click the drop-down icon, and you are able to assign as many OKRs, Milestones and Product Themes as you need.

Business Outcome and Leading Indicator fields are multi-line fields, and there is no limit to what you can write for each field.

Initiative Screen

When you have saved your initiative and assigned features to it, a drop down arrow will appear next to the Initiative ID. Pressing this, will show a drop down list of all the features assigned to the initiative.

A progress bar is also shown, and its status is affected by the progress of all the features in the initiative.

Similar to all other list screens in BigAgile, you are able to sort by all columns. You can do this by clicking on the headers above.

Initiative View

Clicking the cube icon will take you to the Initiative View screen. This is a dedicated screen, offering detailed metrics for individual initiatives.

This view offers insights into progress for individual teams, as well as a burnup chart for story points. There is also an initiative breakdown at the bottom of the screen.
